Purchased as edible tubers at my local grocery store, I soaked and scrubbed them to remove any rooting inhibitor, then potted up shallowly like iris. My first several attempts rotted and didn't take until very warm weather sent them sprouting! I'd like to plant some of these bins in the yard for over wintering in a sunny location as a friend of mine has done and mulch heavily in winter. For zone 7, that's iffy. They flowered their first year and with several bins going I can harvest a bit here and there for making candied ginger and syrup! I love this stuff and like tomatoes, I can't get enough!
